1. **Completion rate over 65%** within the first 5 minutes. Average is ~50%. Videos above 65% signal 'strong hook' to the algorithm. 2. **Like/view ratio over 8%** within the first 15 minutes. Average is ~3%. Ratios above 8% indicate 'strong positive reception'. 3. **Comment ratio above 1 per 100 views**. Comments are the heaviest signal in TikTok's ranking — 1 comment = ~25x the value of 1 like in the algorithm's assessment. 4. **Share ratio over 1%** (1 share per 100 views). Shares indicate viewers find the video worth showing to others — the strongest quality signal.

If at least 3 of 4 hold within 15 minutes, the probability of viral outcome is 4–8x higher than average video. That's when viral-likes boost gives maximum ROI.

**How boost interacts with organic signals.** Viral-likes boost doesn't work in isolation — it amplifies organic signals. If your video already has strong organic completion rate + engagement, adding 500 likes contributes additional signal strength during the critical phase-3 window (minute 30–60), often sufficient to tip the algorithm from 'okay' to 'viral candidate'. But if organic signals are weak, boost alone can't create virality — boost is a multiplier, not an engine.

**Strategic stepped boost.** Instead of throwing entire boost budget at every video, use a stepped approach:

- **Minute 0–2:** Publish video. Wait. Observe organic signals. - **Minute 2–5:** Order 'test boost' (200–500 likes + 500 views). Low cost ~30–50 SEK. - **Minute 10–20:** Check TikTok Analytics. If early signals are positive (3+ of 4 indicators), order 'scale boost' (1,000–2,000 likes + 2,000–5,000 views). ~100–200 SEK. - **Minute 30–60:** If the video is scaling (over 10,000 organic views now), monitor but don't boost more — the algorithm is working. - **Hour 1–24:** Organic viral outcome. No further boost needed.

This strategy limits budget waste on videos without viral potential and maximizes return on videos that do.

**Realistic expectations.** Viral boost campaigns yield ~15–25% hit-rate for videos with initial viral signal, 5–10% for mediocre, and near 0% for bad content. Expect that 4–5 of 20 boosted videos become 'real virals' (100,000+ views), the rest give 3–5x organic lift. Cost per successful viral video: typically 200–500 SEK total. Expected average result: 8–15 viral videos per year for an active creator boosting their top 20%.
